What is VIP?

Our History

In May 1992 a need was recognized for a countywide volunteer training session. In August of that year the Volunteer Ad Hoc Committee was formed to discuss a training session for volunteers on a countywide basis with CMHA/Perth and Stratford Neighbourly Services as co-sponsors. The committee consisted of representatives from CHMA/Perth, SADAVIC, Stratford Neighbourly Services, Seniors Mental Health and Telecare.

Two members from the Volunteer Coordinators Association in Sarnia came to Stratford to share their material. This information session was attended by approximately 25 Perth County agencies and organizations.

On November 12, 1992 the Executive Committee for VOLUNTEERS IN PERTH ASSOCIATION was formed. Membership, Educations and Promotion Committees were also formed.

The purpose of Volunteers in Perth (VIP) is to enable and encourage volunteerism in the community and to establish a mutual network among its members to carry out its objectives.

These objectives are:

  4. Develop and host workshops.
  5. Educate and motivate volunteers to continue volunteering .
